OPPO’s Lineup of eSIM-Ready Smartphones

OPPO has embraced the evolution of connectivity by introducing eSIM support in several of its flagship devices. The OPPO Find X3, Find X3 Pro, Find N2 Flip, and models from the Reno series such as the Reno 5A, Reno 6 Pro 5G, and Reno 9A, all come equipped with eSIM functionality. Additionally, the OPPO Find X5, Find X5 Pro, and A55s 5G are among the lineup of devices designed to leverage the benefits of eSIM technology, offering users a seamless and convenient way to manage their mobile connections.

It’s important to note that while many OPPO models now offer eSIM support, the OPPO Lite line does not include this feature. Users interested in utilizing eSIM functionality should consider the list of compatible OPPO devices provided, ensuring they select a model that aligns with their connectivity needs and preferences. With eSIM support integrated into various OPPO smartphones, users can enjoy the flexibility and convenience of managing their mobile connections without the constraints of physical SIM cards.

Step-by-Step Guide to Activating Global YO eSIM on OPPO Phones Using QR Code

Step 1: Open up the Global YO app on your eSIM-compatible OPPO phone. Once inside, look for the “My eSIM” bubble where you can manage your eSIM activations and settings. Then, find the ‘Install this eSIM’ banner and tap on it. This kicks off the process of installing your eSIM onto your OPPO device.

Step 2: With your QR code ready, navigate to the ‘Settings’ icon on your OPPO phone. In ‘Settings’, head to the ‘Connections’ section where you’ll find a bunch of options related to your device’s connectivity. Look for ‘SIM Card Manager’ and tap on it to proceed.

Find 'SIM Manager' among the connectivity options in 'Settings' for eSIM installation

Step 3: Tap on ‘Add Mobile Plan’ to start adding your eSIM to your device. Select ‘Scan QR code’ and use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code you saved or shared earlier. If prompted, enter the confirmation code.

Select 'Add eSIM' to install an eSIM

Step 4: Once your eSIM plan is detected, tap on ‘Add’ to proceed. Wait for the eSIM to be installed onto your OPPO device. This might take a few moments. When your plan is registered, select OK to activate it.

After detecting your eSIM plan, tap 'Add' to continue to install eSIM

Step 5: Return to the Global YO app and click “Activate Now’ on the My eSIMs screen. Your plan’s expiry will start from this point. If you’re not planning to use your data right away, stick with your local SIM and swap later in your device settings. We recommend activating your plan before you travel, as you’ll need a stable internet connection to access the Global YO app.

Once connected to the supported network, your eSIM will enable cellular/mobile data usage automatically on eSIM compatible devices

Congratulations! Your eSIM has been successfully installed and activated. You will be able to use cellular/mobile data once your eSIM is connected to the supported network automatically. You’re now ready to enjoy seamless connectivity with your OPPO device.

eSIM technology offers users greater flexibility and convenience in managing their mobile connections. With eSIM support, users can easily switch between different mobile networks or plans without the need for physical SIM cards, enhancing their overall connectivity experience.

Can I use embedded SIM cards for international travel with OPPO smartphones?

How do I know if my OPPO phone supports eSIM?

To determine if your OPPO phone supports eSIM functionality, refer to the device specifications provided by OPPO or check the settings menu on your device for eSIM-related options. If unsure, you can also contact OPPO customer support for assistance.

How can I reinstall a deleted eSIM or reinstall an existing eSIM in my new phone?

If you delete your eSIM from YOverse or lose your device, you cannot reinstall it, so if you plan to buy another plan at a later date, you will need to pay the activation fee of $0.70 Euro (which covers your eSIM for 1 year) again and reinstall a new eSIM.

How can I delete an eSIM from my phone?

If you wish, you can manually remove your eSIM. To remove your eSIM follow these steps:

Go to Settings

  • Tap Mobile data or Mobile data

    • Tap your mobile plan

    • Tap “Remove mobile plan”

If you remove your eSIM you will no longer be able to connect through this line. Any contacts you have associated with this line will default to your preferred line.

How can I allow data switching between my plans? [Advanced users]

To allow your phone to automatically select which SIM to use data from based on coverage and availability, turn on “Allow mobile data switching” in your settings. Note that if you are roaming and only want to use your YOverse eSIM or data, you should then make sure that “Allow mobile data switching” is turned off. If “Allow mobile data switching” is turned on, your phone will automatically use data from both phone plans, depending on which network is strongest at any given moment. This option is best for people who want to stay connected no matter what. There is no way to know which plan is being used at any given time, however, so this option can consume data quickly if you are not aware of it. To turn on Allow mobile data switching, follow these steps (steps may vary depending on phone model):

  • Go to Settings

  • Tap either Cellular or Mobile Data.

  • Tap Mobile Data.

    • Turn on Allow Mobile Data Switching

Your data line automatically switches for the duration of your call. Mobile data switching will not work if you are currently roaming and both eSIMs are not set to allow data roaming. Check with your provider for availability and to find out if additional charges apply.

How do I see how much data is left on my plan?

You are able to see it in the application in the “My eSIM” bubble; click on the data plan under “Active Data Plans” to view its remaining data. Once your data runs out, you will no longer have an internet connection without Wi-Fi.
